We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel! The location was perfect, right on the river with stunning views of the Asia pearl and the city lights at night. The hotel had a beautiful old-fashioned charm with its English-style furniture. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially when we needed a taxi. The room was well-maintained, with daily housekeeping and fresh towels. We also appreciated the room amenities, including air conditioning, a mini-bar, and an in-room safe. The hotel had a lovely restaurant and bar area, and we enjoyed the free Wi-Fi throughout our stay.
We had a fantastic experience at this hotel. We highly recommend it to everyone for its convenient location, excellent service, and comfortable rooms.

Excellent location, very close to Bund and other attractions in Shanghai.
In our modern world business people must be on the Internet. I thought it was cheap of this hotel to charge 1 RMB per minute of Internet access. I stayed in four other hotels in China that did not charge for Internet access.

The hotel is located in the Bund area, offering beautiful views of the river, skyscrapers, and working barges. the rooms are clean and pleasant, with some having windows that open to let in fresh air. the staff goes out of their way to assist guests, including flagging down taxis. the hotel is also close enough to the city center for easy access to attractions and activities.
The hotel charges for Wi-Fi, which can be inconvenient who rely on internet access.

The staffs can speak English and have good service mind. The location is good and convenient to reach the sightseeing. The room is good also. This is the second time of me here and next time for sure.
The water in bathroom runs very slowly. I took so much time shower.

Fantastic view of the Bund and Huangpu River if you get a river view unit, which is highly recommended, and all in all, a very nice building and facility.
Needs carpet replacement and minor upgrades.

During my Christmas stay, I appreciated the friendly and helpful staff at the hotel. They were always ready to assist with any requests or questions I had. the breakfast served at the hotel was quite delicious. It offered a good variety of options to cater to different tastes. the hotel's location was a key aspect that I liked. It was conveniently situated close to popular landmarks and attractions, making it easy to explore the city.
There were a couple of aspects that I disliked about my stay. the air conditioning in my room was not functioning properly.

The site of rooms with river/bund view is unique. The SPA is also very charming. If you wanna have a super panoramic view to Pudong with its skyscrapbers and the bund it is The Place (do not go for gastrononic reason, even the coffe from the espresso machine is nice).
The behaviour of the staff in the restaurant is low level. Beginning of breakfast the customer has to catch the plates and 'tools' himself. For a long time the used plates are not taken away. The staff members in 'grey' hang around the entrence and do nothing else but block customers way in and out.

I chose the hotel because of reviews that praised the views from the hotel of the Bund and Huangpu River. The hotel's location made for good views, but only from outside the hotel, because the room's windows were filthy and didn't allow even picture-taking through the glass. And of course, the windows couldn't be opened fully to allow picture-taking. The terrace of an upper-floor banquet room allowed a clear view of the skyline, but staff shooed me away, even though the banquet room was not being used at the time. The best feature of the hotel was the Japanese- made automated toilets with a bidet/washing feature in the bathroom--a novel and useful feature.
When I arrived, there was some confusion about the kind of room--river view or city view--that I had booked, and I ended up having to pay extra for the river view that I thought I had already booked at a lower price. Furthermore, as noted above, my fourth-floor room's windows were so dirty that I couldn't enjoy the view through them. I asked the staff to clean the windows, but they refused, and the windows couldn't be opened fully to enjoy the view or take pictures--the main reason for choosing that hotel. As mentioned above, when I tried to view/photograph the Bund and skyline from a vacant upstairs banquet room terrace, I was asked to leave, even though the room was not being used at the time. In other contacts I had with the reception staff, they were consistently unsmiling and even curt--a real surprise in what is considered a four- star hotel. In addition, breakfast was not included in the price of the room, and from what I saw of the buffet breakfast offered for an additional $10, it was not good value. Also, the hotel was not close to any metro subway station, so I had to take taxis to go anywhere. Lastly, I went down to the reception desk and paid my bill a half-hour before I was ready to depart for the airport; but to be able to return to my room for that last half-hour and finish packing, I was required to leave a $50 deposit--something I've never heard of before, but in line with the poor management and staff training that I experienced during my four- night stay there. All in all, the views from the hotel can be matched by other, better-run hotels in the area and can be had at better value at other hotels that have a more welcoming and professional staff. The Seagull Hotel was the most disappointing of the hotels I stayed in during my two-week visit to China--all of which were four-star hotels.

Spent Easter weekend at this hotel and enjoyed the egg hunt they organized for the kids. the staff was friendly and helpful with directions to nearby attractions. the breakfast spread had a good variety, especially loved the fresh fruit and pastries. the hotel is located opposite a beautiful park and close to a shopping mall with many dining options.
The hotel room was not clean upon check-in, with stains on the bedspread and curtains. the bathroom had a peculiar odor and the towels looked old and worn out.

Location is great and the price is quite adequate for that area.
No free interent. First of all no wifi which is really wierd, even in hostels there's free wifi. And secondly the room and bathroom were no very clean. Maybe it is because hotel itself is old.

The location is good to walk sightseeing and nearby Nanjing road for shopping. Also you can buy city tour nearby but walk a bit far to nearest metro. The taxi is more convenient. The hotel staffs are good and almost of them are able to speak English as well. They all have service mind.
I think the deposit at front desk when first check-in is too much and should not make it over the full amount of all stay! Beyond this, everything is good.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly, I was also able to exchange money for a reasonable charge. The location couldn't have been better, I only wish I'd booked a room with a view! However the room was superb and it was definitely money well spent!
